About Broadcom

Broadcom, Inc. is an American company that focuses on the designing and manufacturing of semiconductor and infrastructure software products. First established in 1961, Broadcom formed as a semiconductor division operating under Hewlett-Packard. In 1999, the division was split off and eventually reformed as Avago Technologies. After some restructuring, the company held their initial public offering in 2008, also going public on the NASDAQ a year later. To further extend their operational capabilities, Broadcom began acquiring various electronic manufacturers, moving them towards a more mainstream industry that encompassed chips and storage.

During the 2010’s, the company began to sell off various divisions, and purchased Broadcom Corporation in 2015. Once acquired, the two companies merged to form Broadcom Ltd. Leading into the present, Broadcom has focused on the acquisition of multiple companies to expand upon their operational capabilities, some successful and some not. Currently, Broadcom is focused on the development of new electronic products, even announcing the world’s first Wi-Fi 6E client device in 2020.
