About Souriau- Sunbank
Souriau-Sunbank’s story began in 1917 when Paul-Adolphe Souriau formed a car ignition coil repair company in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. One of their customers, Citroën, began fitting all of their vehicle production line with Souriau products in 1933. In 1935, Souriau entered the aerospace market with their development of connectors for aviation. Around 1945, Souriau’s son, Paul-Jean Souriau, took the place of his father as the CEO of the company.
Around 1958, the company Sunbank was founded, their speciality being connector accessories and conduits for the aerospace industry. Meanwhile, Souriau expanded their reach in various market sectors and capacities including partnerships with French space programs, participation in the Concorde project in 1962, and fitted French nuclear submarine fleets. Souriau also oversaw expansion of their offices and domestic reach, as well as established new plants for machined contracts. In 1977 and 1987, Souriau began expanding into foreign markets with establishment of offices in the United States and Japan.
By 1995, Souriau saw more success as Boeing approved their conduits for use in their B757, 747, and 777 models. A year later, they continued their focus on space, nuclear, and marine markets with the opening of a new French plant. With continued expansion into foreign markets and partnerships, Souriau established offices in Morocco and India, saw success with Airbus contracts for optical technology, integrated with Esterline, and saw the acquisition and fusion of Sunbank through Esterline. Presently, they have rebranded themselves as Souriau-Sunbank and continue their global presence in many markets and sectors.
